Our Story at La Calera Mexican Bar and Grill

Fresh Flavor, Friendly Faces, and a Place That Feels Like Home. At La Calera Mexican Bar and Grill, our story began with friendship, timing, and a shared love for bringing people together over great food. Our business partners, Fidel Valdovinos and Luis Manuel Mejia Sanchez, had talked for years about opening a restaurant together.

In 2021, everything finally came together, and we had the time, resources, and will to move forward. Today, with locations in McMurray and Baldwin, we proudly serve authentic Mexican food, bold Michoacán-inspired flavors, margaritas, lunch specials, family dinners, and takeout in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Built by Friends With a Shared Dream

La Calera Mexican Bar and Grill was not created from a business trend or a passing idea. It came from years of friendship and conversations that always seemed to come back to the same dream: opening a restaurant together. We knew that if we ever opened a place, it had to feel personal. It had to be the kind of restaurant where people could enjoy a great meal, relax with family and friends, and leave feeling better than when they arrived.

That dream became real when we opened our McMurray location on Valentine’s Day in 2022. It felt like the perfect day to begin because this restaurant was built with so much heart. Then, on October 9, 2023, we opened our Baldwin location in Pittsburgh, giving us another opportunity to serve a community we care about.

Running a restaurant is not easy. There are long days, busy nights, unexpected challenges, and a lot of moving parts. You have to love it. You have to be passionate about it.
